Hello friends, here’s a final version of my newest artwork “First Blood”. It is a cover art for my upcoming Spartan Texturing Course :-)
New Behind the Scenes and WIP of Spartan Texturing Promo Artwork
Hello dear friends, finally, I was able to work some more on Heroes of Bronze and I’d like to share with you the latest news. First, there are new videos going behind the scenes of the recent Before the Storm teaser, one is exclusive for my Patrons, the other is free to watch here:
I am also currently finishing my Spartan Texturing Course where you will learn how I textured my Spartan character I use in my promo artworks. Here is a quick screen grab of the course’s promo. This one will be the most epic I’ve yet created, I think :-)
And finally, there is actually a Meet the Artist article that came out over at BlenderNation, where I talk about my previous projects and also about Heroes of Bronze. So check it out!
Cheers,
Martin
Teaser Behind the Scenes Videos!
Exciting news, my friends!
After finishing the Pedestal tutorial course, I am now starting a new series of videos, connected closely to the “Before the Storm” teaser. In it, I will be dissecting the shots you can see in the teaser, showing you behind the scenes of my Blender, Substance and After Effects files.
And already, a first of these videos is available for free on my Youtube, and also, a second one you can find on my Patreon channel, where it’s unlocked for the Hypaspist and Hoplite tier Patrons :-)
More BTS videos will come soon…

Heroes of Bronze first teaser!
Hello, friends of Heroes of Bronze project! After some wait, I can finally present to you the first teaser for my upcoming historical short film Heroes of Bronze! It was made in Blender, using the realtime render Eevee. More info and behind the scenes coming soon :-)
Story:
The year is 490 BC, the morning before the Athenian troops left the city to fight the Persian invaders. Amid the coming storm, a father and a son meet for the very last time... More info here.
Heroes of Bronze Teaser hitting soon!
This will be a quick one, I just wanted to let you know that something very special is coming… a first short teaser for Heroes of Bronze! Rendered completely in real-time Blender renderer Eevee, which allowed me to create it in less than a week time. Its speed and power is truly a revolution, one that gives me hope I can make all that I have planned for Heroes of Bronze a reality!
The teaser will hit in a matter of days and a lot of Behind the Scenes content will follow, so if you don’t want to miss it, consider subscribing to my Youtube channel or even support on Patreon, where by the way you can vote in a free poll to influence what my next tutorial will be :-)

Hello friends!
With the Part 9 - Simulation and Rendering, my Blender and Substance Painter beginner course that I've been making for quite some time now is finally complete! There are nine parts, almost 3 hours of free content, that focus on all the important aspects of my asset’s creation.
Part 1 takes you through the modelling process of the ancient Greek pedestal
Part 2 introduces you to working with particles
Part 3 shows you the sculpting process inside of Blender
Part 4 focuses on basic UVing and texturing inside of Blender
Parts 5 - 7 shows you how to import your model to SubstancePainter and create several Smart Materials
Part 8 shows how to plug in your Substance painter textures and light your model
Part 9 introduces some more particle and simulation work (smoke and embers) and also the rendering setup
You can find the playlist with all the parts here.
Also, I am trying something new! So, if you want to support the project, you can do so by having a look at my Patreon intro video below.. or go directly to this new Patreon page :-)

New Models Finished!
Hey everybody, I have finally been able to finish some essential models for the Heroes of Bronze short film!
First off, it’s the trireme, a magnificent type of ship the Ancient Greek used as highly-advanced weapon in maritime combat. It’s got three rows of oars, two sails and a huge bronze ram in the front of the ship, used to destroy enemy vessels.
Originally I wanted to outsource or buy this model. Then I thought, Heck, it’s my project, I might as well do it myself! Now I’m so glad I did, because it’s been a great fun and an awesome learning opportunity.
This is one of the several designs I plan to create for the project. Most important thing, however, is, that the base model is now ready and all the various designs will now be just about varying colors and little details.
Also, I was able to finish this bronze statue of a hero, featured in several shots of my short film. And there, in the background, is a Greek temple, which is not really completely finished yet, but it soon will be.
Hope you like the progress so far and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask here in the comments section…
One more thing, you can now buy some of the models right here, thus supporting the project! Which would be a tremendous help for me. The more support I can get, the less freelance gigs I need to do and the more I can focus on Heroes of Bronze and new tutorials…
Oh and did I mention that I’m finally finishing the Spartan Texturing course, a part 2 of this course series? Stay tuned, it’s coming next month ;-)
Cheers, Martin
"Magnificent Bastards" now in 21:9! + new artwork
Great news, I finally assembled some shot for the Heroes of Bronze short film! First, there is the Spartan noble scene I created some weeks ago, now extended into a 21:9 format shot. Hope you like it! There is a making of article coming as well :-)
As usual, I used Blender, Substance Painter, a bit of Marvelous Designer, Poliigon for some textures and The Grove for trees :-)
Also, I’ve been working on a different scene, showing one of the characters from the short film, Penelope. This is still a WIP though:
Everything is slowly starting to come together. So satisfying… :-)
By the way, don’t forget you can have a look at how I modeled the Spartan warrior in this course :-) So if you want to support my project financially, you can have a look at it:
Hope you like!

A few concepts for Heroes of Bronze short film
Hey there, friends of Ancient Greece, today just a quick update. I keep working on the storyboard for the film, as well as some new assets and tutorials. Check some of the images here…
New Architectural Asset Tutorial Series!
Finally, I was able to put together a new tutorial! With this one, I am actually starting a whole new series of tuts focusing on the creation of one of the architectural assets I created for Heroes of Bronze. In this beginner course you will learn how to model such asset, create particles of leaves and flowers, sculpt a few engravings, UV the asset, add fire and render it. We will be also texturing it in the Substance Painter.
